PASA MAJOR Tournament Rules - 2009

1.  Cheating will not be tolerated.  Sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation are expected from all members. Any infraction of these fundamental principles may cause disqualification for current and future events.

2.  Members must abide by fishing and boating laws of the state in which the tournament is being held (PA Fish & Boat Commission or NYDEC).  Additionally, any lake specific rules for the tournament body of water will also apply.

3.  Two (2) person per team. Participants 16 years old and younger must be with adult at least 18 years old.

4.  All boats will be checked prior to tournament. Boats must have aerated livewells; all live fish must be returned to the water after conclusion of weigh-in; you may not take live fish from the lake of any of our events.

5.  Life vests and throwables must be used per PA Fish & Boat Commission rules and laws. 

6.  Pre-registration may be done at PASA meetings, tournaments or by mail. Otherwise registrations begin 2 hours before tournament launch time and close exactly 10 minutes before take off time.  Assignment of all boat numbers will be determined by random draw during tournament check in

7.  Bass must be at least 12 " measured closed mouth to tail with tail compressed or non-compressed. No courtesy measurements will be allowed at the weigh in stand.  Fish delivered to weigh in stand under minimal length will be disallowed and a 1 pound penalty will be applied to the team total weight. Two 2 short fish will result in disqualification.  

8. Only tournament limit may be in your livewell after official check-in.  No culling at designated tournament launch site, no more than tournament limit allowed in boat while boat moored/docked for weigh in, or on trailer.  This includes dead fish. Our goal is to keep fish alive.  Dead fish brought to the scale, will be assessed a 1/2 pound penalty; DEAD FISH MAY NOT BE CULLED!  Lunker fish must be alive in order to qualify for Lunker prize! NO MORE THAN 3 DEAD FISH CAN BE WEIGHED IN BY A TEAM.

9.  Only artificial lures and pork rind may be used for catching fish. No trolling. Only one rod may be used at a time.

10. No leaving of boats while on the water to fish, except to retrieve a lure, restroom break, or for a boat emergency. No fishing is allowed by either angler while either angler is out of the boat.  Members jigging docks while walking them will be disqualified. Member must contact official on water or on the shore in order to leave boat if not for lure retrieval, restroom break, or boat emergency.

11. Members must report back to weigh-in PRIOR to the official designated tournament end time, whether you have fish or not. Boat number and quantity of fish must be reported to check in official at the launch site. Late boats will be assessed 1 lb. per minute; over 10 minute’s disqualification.

12. Any designated tournament official has the right to board your boat to inspect it and its livewells.

13. Boating Distance:  Moving boats no closer than 25 ft; anchored boat (with BOTH motors up) can not be approached any closer than 75 ft

14. The removal of the ORANGE identifying tape from the boat will cause disqualification!!

15. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted on boats.

16. Practice days are allowed.  Off Limit areas (all lakes) as designated by PA fish and boat commission.  

17. All protests must be filed in writing, signed, witnessed and given to the tournament director within 10 minutes of the final contestant weighing in. Monies will be held pending review.

18. ALL monies will be divided between team members. Monies will be split in a tie. 

19. BREAKDOWNS; can be communicated to another team no closer than 25' away, breakdown must be communicated to officials on shore, the reporting team or any other team who's weighed in their fish may retrieve the broken down team. (one disabled team member must remain with fish), disabled team must report to dock official by official weigh-in time or be disqualified.

20.  All arguments and protests will be decided by the PASA board and tournament directors.   Decisions of the PASA board and tournament directors are final.
